Profile

Tyler Helmond’s practice focuses on appellate advocacy, criminal defense, corporate and business concerns, and collateral issues involving arrests and convictions, including expungement, forfeiture, and licensing. He is the 2020 Chair of the Indianapolis Bar Association Appellate Practice Section. Additionally, he is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the Indianapolis Bar Association. His work has been published in The Champion, the journal of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he has appeared as a commentator in publications including The Indiana Lawyer and Ars Technica.
Helmond has argued cases before the Indiana Court of Appeals and the Indiana Supreme Court. He serves as an associate faculty member at Indiana University, and has presented on continuing legal education at the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Judicial Conference of Indiana.
