James H. Voyles, Jr.

James Voyles joined the firm in 1968 after serving as a law clerk to Indiana Attorney General John J. Dillon. He has represented clients in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Montana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and numerous counties across Indiana.

Voyles is an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, having served terms as both vice president and president. In 2011, the association selected him for its prestigious Hon. Paul Buchanan Award. He is also a member of both the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Criminal Lawyers, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Voyles is a member of the Indiana Supreme Court Character and Fitness Committee, and a former member of the Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Race and Gender. He is a Trustee of Illinois College and a member of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

Additionally, Voyles achieved the coveted AV rating by the Martindale and Hubbell Law Directory and is consistently listed in Woodward White’s Best Lawyers in America  in the area of criminal law. He has lectured for several organizations including the Indianapolis Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and public defender programs.
